What it is

Our remote learning course, How to Make People-centred Change, is a facilitated online course based on over 5 years’ experience of running transformative projects with organisations, people and communities. We’ve designed the course carefully so you get the information you need at a pace you can digest it, along with the time, space and methods we know will allow you to properly explore how to use it in your own context.

What it isn’t

E-learning! We’ve had enough of clicking through to the next page for more irrelevant information which doesn’t apply to our world, so we’ve designed this course based on what we know actually works in changing how you do things – reflective, participatory learning with a practical focus and human connection.

What you’ll learn

The course is broken down into 4 separate topics (one each week) which together allow you to explore and understand the practical steps for making your involvement activities meaningful, productive and engaging.

Session 1 – Foundation

An introduction to the ideas we need to explore when applying co-production methods and mindset to our work. Take part in practical activities to decide where you want to get to, understand the difference you can make and how to motivate people to take part.

Session 2 – Who should be involved?

Tackling the difficult issue of deciding who you need to speak to first. Thinking openly about who to involve and what level of involvement is right. Practical activities to map assets and find the people and communities who can be part of the process.

Session 3 –  Barriers and enablers, techniques and methods

Thinking about what prevents us from engaging with people and what will allow us to do more. Practical activities to identify and overcome barriers, and time to try out and understand a range of collaborative methods and engagement techniques.

Session 4 – Putting it all together

We’ll be introducing you to a range of collaborative methods which will make the sessions engaging, and applicable to your own context. You’ll also be trying out (and learning to use) many of the methods we use when we facilitate co-production, so you’re ready to start building them into your own involvement plan in week 4.
